The blessing

… So will the words that come out of my mouth not come back empty-handed. They’ll do the work I sent them to do, they’ll complete the assignment I gave them – Isaiah 55:11

Imagine someone walking up to you and blessing you with a thousand dollars from nowhere. I mean like, this person is just heaven sent and, “sent for such a time as this!”.You badly needed that money but you were too shy to ask but the person saw the need. Right away you write down a list of what you want to buy, the debts you want to settle and you hurriedly go to the grocery store humming your favourite worship song, frolicking like Jerry who just walked into cheese. You even update your status to, “God is still in the business of doing miracles, hashtag Jehova Jireh!” You kneel down and thank God and bless that person in prayer with Travis Greene and Tim Godfrey’s Nara Ekele mo song playing in the background. Two days later the phone rings…

“Er, I was wondering if you could give me back that money I gave you!”
Not part of it but all of it..and without asking anything more (you are tongue-tied, and you’re engaging in an internal conversation thinking how you have already used half of it )-the person at the other end of the line goes like..”something came up. .need it by the end of the day”.

Before you can even swallow your saliva the person hangs up!

Imagine that!

How many times have we committed to action and failed to assure the next person? Many times we have been given grounds for expectation especially of something good. Our hopes are elevated, we are given reason to expect improvement or success. When the disappointment blow comes, hope is deferred, plans are delayed, dreams are even shattered. Our trust and reliance on the person are faltered. Can anyone relate?

But this doesn’t happen with God!
Don’t let that bitter incredulity make you fail to believe God’s promises and blessings bestowed upon your life!

God is not a man, one given to lies and neither is He a fickler, quick to change His opinion and allegiance. God is not disloyal to His word. If He freely gave us His son how can He not give us anything? Has He said it and not done it?

God doesn’t think the way the person who let you down thinks. How they operate isn’t how God operates. How He thinks is beyond the way we think too. He is a man of His word. Does He speak and not do what He says? Does He promise and fail to come through? In Numbers Chapter 22 and 23 King Balak was so intimidated with Israel, he hired Balaam, a prophet, to pronounce a curse over Israel, but that wasn’t up to Balaam nor the King, they didn’t have such authority and powers vested in them. I loved the Prophet’s response,

Listen, I received a command to bless; God has blessed, and I cannot reverse it!”
Numbers 23:20 NLT

God is a promise keeper! When He says something it’s done and done. He won’t give you something, scratch his head, turn back with His mind changed and come back for whatever He blessed you with! Nobody can revoke or change the blessing upon your life!

Do you know that you are blessed?

Are you aware that nothing and no-one can take those blessings away from you except for disobedience?

Every good and perfect thing is from the Lord who doesn’t change like shifting shadows!

Now let me leave you with something that even I cannot nullify nor reverse, something that your medical report can’t revoke, that your financial status can’t dictate. Signed, sealed and delivered by God himself!

The Lord bless you, and keep you [protect you, sustain you, and guard you]; The Lord make His face shine upon you [with favour], And be gracious to you [surrounding you with lovingkindness]; The Lord lift up His countenance (face) upon you [with divine approval], And give you peace [a tranquil heart and life].’

  1. Nyasha I need you to know that when you write you don’t write alone. There is a spirit that writes with you. This article is Godly and yes you gave it to me as a random reader just at the right time woman. I felt it. I am currently recovering from a time of indifference and various emotional confusion that could threaten my progress in life but by my Christian faith and prayer I am still on my feet ready for the road. With posts like these I am getting better, this world needs bloggers like you. Ishe Vakukomborere Iwe Mwana Wevhu Akakomborerwa!

  4. Besides this being so true and profound, you have a customized flair in all your writings that I find so easy to pick, I am sure that whenever and wherever I’d come across your article without your name on it I will be in a position to relate without difficulty. Keep up the good work Nyashie, I feel motivated whenever I read whatever you set your mind to write, you’re someone who doesn’t spread herself thin but you give yourself to deliver.

    Very true!!

“God is not a man, one given to lies and neither is He a fickler, quick to change His opinion and allegiance. God is not disloyal to His word. If He freely gave us His son how can He not give us anything?”

Whenever we give something to people, it should be with good intentions and with a genuine, pure heart. We can’t give and expect anything back in return. Freely receive, freely give. I loved how you mentioned a bible verse from Numbers.

I see that you were inspired by my posts and loved the layout of this post! Love what you are doing and keep it going! I am always here for you! Much love and blessings to you and your family! 😀 XOXO
